Day 20 - 30 Days With Jesus - Luke 11:20 -53 and 12:1-35 Jesus Tells Off The Religious Folk!

Today's Bible Challenge Reading -  Luke 11:20 -53 and 12:1-35  Jesus Tells Off The Religious Folk!

In today's bible challenge reading we will eventually learn more about YOUR RIGHTS=)

But first we will get into a part of Jesus Life that I ENJOY....

WHEN Jesus TELLS off the religious people called "Pharisees".....

I thought we were SUPPOSED to be religious right?????

Well..... NO NOT EXACTLY!  Jesus was more interested in  relationship, love of others, justice, kindness, longsuffering than the Pharisees following religious rules! Especially since a lot of their rules had NOTHING to with God or the Bible...they had a bunch of MAN MADE ones.
(WATCH OUT: Remember there are Pharisees today in many churches not wearing fancy outfits!!!)

Jesus said to them...

"You completely forget about justice and the love of God. You should tithe, yes,but u should not leave undone the more important things. How terrible it will be for you Pharisees

For you crush people beneath IMPOSSIBLE religious demands, AND you never lift a finger to HELP... (them) How terrible it will be for you!"

IN OTHER WORDS, Jesus was not against them following God's ways but more importantly Jesus wanted them to SHOW the LOVE OF GOD!

PLUS, Jesus was not into a bunch of human rules made to hold the people could tell the Pharisees had rules for the rules sake NOT because they brought the people CLOSER to GOD AT ALL.

GOD is a JUST GOD and wants come come along-side us INSTEAD says in Isaiah 1:18-20 (NKJV)

Come now, and let us reason together,
     Says the LORD,

Though your sins are like scarlet,
    They shall be as white as snow;

Though they are red like crimson,
      They shall be as wool.
If you are willing and obedient,
      You shall eat the good of the land;

Perhaps the toughest accusation Jesus made when HE told the religious Pharisees.

"you hide the key to knowledge from the people (BUT) YOU DON'T ENTER yourselves and you prevent others from entering...."

There is a balance God has with His children...

love & kindness
grace & peace

God's heart is bursting with LOVE for His people...especially children! HE doesn't want us to have hearts like the Pharisees.

ALL of the items on the list are available to YOU!

God gets sad because many believers DON'T KNOW THEIR RIGHTS.  How to go to HIM and ask for what they really need. He is waiting for YOU!

Just ask God to come closer right now:

Pray- "Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and help me feel closer to you. Help me to read my word and learn about you. Please MAKE it REAL for me and SHOW me LORD WHAT YOU want me to do... I love you Lord, in Jesus name. Amen"

Day 19 - Bible Challenge - Luke 11 - Do You KNOW Your Rights??

Today's Bible Challenge Reading - Luke 11: 1-53 - Do You Know Your RIGHTS?

Do People Still Have Tea Party's ?? FUN

Grapefruit at a Tea Party???

Today we want to talk about our RIGHTS, your RIGHTS....

we start today's reading starts by Jesus teaching us how to pray...

in other words how to chat, communicate, dialog with, hang with, be with, connect to, and relate to GOD.

Jesus... in verses 2-4 outlines a simple way to pray to God....especially when you don't know what else to say.

In case you think its complicated here is a cute 2 year old singing the Lord's Prayer

Well isn't that simple?

BUT what if I have more on my heart? Stuff is bugging me?

What if I have a friend that is in trouble OR if my family is sick or is having problems...what should I say?

This next clip from LaCrae might help you see how prayer is just talking from the heart to your best friend....

GOD ALWAYS loves, ALWAYS cares, ALWAYS hears, ALWAYS helps....even if it looks DIFFERENT than what WE ASKED for.

Even if answers seem delayed....don't forget God gives people free will so it may take time for some answers...and sometimes God says "NO" if we are asking for something HE knows is not BEST for us...

Just like any good parent says "NO" sometimes to things.

Here is Lacrae's prayer or  "Chat" with God.

Did you catch who the friend was that he was praying about????

DID IT WORK???????????

In the next section...verses 5-10

JESUS makes an important point about prayer that MANY christians miss:

...“Suppose you went to a friend’s house at midnight, wanting to borrow three loaves of bread. You say to him,

‘A friend of mine has just arrived for a visit, and I have nothing for him to eat.’

And suppose he calls out from his bedroom, ‘Don’t bother me. The door is locked for the night, and my family and I are all in bed. I can’t help you.’

But I tell you this—though he won’t do it for friendship’s sake, if you keep knocking long enough, he will get up and give you whatever you need because of your shameless persistence.
“And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.

For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.

If you meet any Christian who has been one for a loong time you will hear countless encouraging testimonies from God ANSWERED their prayers! It is inevitable!!!

Jesus was teaching them to be ??????????????? ___________________

PERSISTANT, God wants us to keep asking and believing and knowing He will help us!

Whatever you have been praying...talking to God about just remember

BUT what about my rights?

As a believer you have TONS of rights....
TOO many to list here...

BUT one of them is you have the right to pray and expect God to heal people...Just like Jesus did =)

One of my favorite verses to use to pray to ask God for healing is

But He was wounded for our transgressions,
      He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.

      YOU SEE ????

Jesus already PAID the price four our healing. So you don't have to!

Day 18 - Jesus BEFORE He was Born - BIBLE CHALLENGE - Daniel 3: 8-26, Daniel 7: 9-14

Today's BIBLE CHALLENGE - Dan. 3: 8-26 and Dan. 7: 9-14 - Jesus BEFORE He Was Born

WHEN you have read... let us know or share anything you learned...please use the comment section below...

Old but fun pix

What happened BEFORE Jesus was born? We know we celebrate Christmas each year in honor of Jesus' Birth. Many history buffs are not sure about the December 25th date but nevertheless we HONOR JESUS BIRTHDAY!

BUT what about before then????

Yesterday we chatted about Jesus as part of the TRINITY (Father, Son and Holy Spirirt) was DEFINATELY there AT THE BEGINNING! We went thru Genesis 1 to see the clues that make clear the obvious...Jesus was there in the beginning.

WHAT is a JESUS SIGHTING or a Theophany?

Well first of all, the words are similar....

In the bible whenever there is an appearance of God to humans it is called a Theophany. Today will I call them "Jesus Sightings" because we are focusing on when Jesus "showed up" in the Old Testement Times as recorded in the book of Daniel.

Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego = A "Jesus Sighting" =
A Theophany

Jesus "Showed Up" EVEN IN THE FIRE To Help His Faithful Friends

One of the most popular Theophanies when Jesus "showed up" is the the famous story about Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego who were thrown into the FIRE. It is the reading in Daniel 3. There are not too many kids story books that don't include this story!

As you read you will see the three faithful men REFUSE  to worship anyone but God soooooooooooo....
their reward from the King Nebuchadnezzer who wanted them to worship Him instead of God??

Then Nebuchadnezzar was furious with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, and his attitude toward them changed. He ordered the furnace heated seven times hotter than usual

and commanded some of the strongest soldiers in his army to tie up Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego and throw them into the blazing furnace....

Then in verse 22 we see how bad it could have been for God's men Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego

And because the king, in his anger, had demanded such a hot fire in the furnace, the flames killed the soldiers as they threw the three men in.

Finally we see Jesus "show up" to rescue God's followers who wanted to STAND UP for WHAT is RIGHT....even the King was in shock!

He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God (JESUS).

They were not hurt or harmed even a lil bit! Now how cool is THAT?
Then the king ordered his people to worship Shadrach, Meshach Abednego after he saw with his own eyes that there were now 4 MEN inside the fire instead of 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For those who like Veggie Tales...They did a funny spin on this version in their video "Rack, Shack and Benny"

If that isn't enough ther is one more "Jesus Sighting" in Daniel 7 that is phenomenal because it describes both the Ancient of Days (God) and one like the Son of Man (Jesus)

 my notes in (black)

From the NIV Daniel says:

“As I looked,

“thrones were set in place,

and the Ancient of Days (God) took his seat.

His clothing was as white as snow;

the hair of his head was white like wool.

His throne was flaming with fire...

A river of fire was flowing,

coming out from before him.

Thousands upon thousands attended him;

ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him. (alot of people were around)

The court was seated, (A court implies there will be judging)

and the books were opened. (Included the book of life  - lists who gets to go to heaven=)

So Daniel  was able to see what will happen in the future at the end times....GREAT!
He also saw something wonderful that God did as reported in Daniel chapter 7:
....there before me was one like a Son of Man, (Jesus)
coming with the clouds of heaven. (look for the clouds when Jesus comes back down from the sky to earth)

He approached the Ancient of Days (God)  and was led into his presence. (Jesus went to God)
He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him.

That means Jesus was give DOMINION......the right to RULE and LEAD and be the BOSS of everything

The ALL nations and EVERY LANGUAGE PART means God gave Jesus rule over

His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.

So God gave Jesus POWER!!!!

So......Jesus is the KEY!!

When you have faith in Jesus, you know you don't have to look any further...isn't that cool?

When you put your faith in Jesus and give Him your know you don't have to look any further since Jesus is the KEY that OPENS the DOOR to get INTO Heaven. whew....

Jesus is THE ONLY WAY to go to HEAVEN....there is ONLY ONE WAY.... thru Jesus

Day 17 - 30 Days With Jesus - JESUS THE TIME TRAVELER? - BIBLE CHALLENGE - Gen. 1: 1-26

Today's Bible Reading Challenge Verses - Gen. 1:1-26 - Jesus the Time Traveler?

In Genesis we can learn alot about ourselves and ALOT about Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

Genesis, the first book of the bible really helps us understand HOW WE GOT HERE....

1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness.

By Akaine @ 12 YEARS OLD - "Humanity’s search for the origin, destiny, and meaning of life"

5 God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day. 6 And God said, “Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.”

7 So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. And it was so.

8 God called the vault “sky.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the second day

Then it goes on for the next days of the first week, explaining how God made the plants and animals, the sun and moon and so on. It is facinating....

Did you "see" the hint about The Holy Spirit "hovering over the waters" in verse 1????

So The Holy Spirit also was there in the beginning of the universe and our world right??

Some people call The Holy Spirit = The Holy Ghost

BUT WHAT ABOUT JESUS? Was Jesus there in the beginning?

Akaine @ 7 YEARS OLD Painted "Prince of Peace" (Another name for Jesus)
WHO says kids can't do great things??

Ok lets look again at Genesis for the answer in 1 verse 26

Then God said, “Let US make mankind in our image, in our likeness,
so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky,
over the livestock and all the wild animals,
and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”

Did you catch it????

WHO is US???

YES, God, the Father, The Holy Spirit AND Jesus were all there in the beginning!! They were US!!!
Remember God the Father, The Holy Spirit and JESUS have NO beginning or end=)

So what about us????

When you read Genesis 1: 1-26 you get to see that WE WERE MADE BY GOD and in His image, (just like my kids kinda look like me - they are in my image...get it??)

We are a special creation to Him and with a special purpose...EVERY ONE of us.

**Remember, God has a purpose and plan for specifically you! He LOVES you and has it all planned out...if you get close enough to God He will get you on track.

There is ALOT of debate out there with secular and creation scientists and others who are trying to explain if we came from God as humans directly (instead of evolution) or if we evolved and the world started with a BANG.

Reading the Bible and understanding and believing it is simple in my opinion is straight forward. There are many cool books over at for adults and kids that help understand BOTH sides.

AIG even has a book series Kid Answers that answers direct questions sent to them like "Were dinosaurs around with people?" asked by a 6yo

Older folks who like to really DIG in have another series called Answers to choose from in DVD or Book

Another favorite is their Kid Answers Cartoon Student Handbooks (see pg 21-22 sample)

Here are some cute videos from Christians who are defending Creationism.

Here is a comedy skit...

Day 16 - 30 Days With Jesus - BIBLE CHALLENGE - John 5:1-27 - Teen Guest Writer

What's going on?

Well we are up an running for this 3rd week of our 30 Days with Jesus Bible Challenge.
PLUS Aunti Lo-Lo took a day off so I am writing today.

Today's Bible Challenge Reading for John 5:1-27

When you have read... let us know or share anything you learned...please use the comment section below!

Evil is sometimes disguised as good... That's why God gave us the Holy Spirit to know right from wrong. This word reads good in black and evil and white.

Hey, this is Rodney Jr.

I'm kinda not used to this whole blogger lingo (I'm used to coding languages and microsoft word) so there will not be that much fancy text changing or anything.

Today's reading is going to be spit up into two parts: The Healing at the pool and The Authority of the son.

First, we are going to do the healing at the pool.

My comments will be in red...

Some time later, Jesus went up to Jerusalem for one of the Jewish festivals.

Now there is in Jerusalem near the Sheep Gate a pool, which in Aramaic is called Bethesda and which is surrounded by five covered colonnades.

Okay, so there was this big pool party that Jesus
went to.

Here a great number of disabled people used to lie—the blind, the lame, the paralyzed.

However, instead of beach balls and loud noise there was a lot of disabled people laying around the pool.

One who was there had been an invalid for thirty-eight

When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?”

So Jesus decided to get in on this party, in his way. He goes up to one of the people who had been there for about four times your lifespan.

“Sir,” the invalid replied, “I have no one to help
me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me.”

So basically, what the man is saying is that every once and awhile, an angel comes down and stirs up the water in a way that people can see. Then, first come first serve for healing.

Then Jesus said to him, “Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.” At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked.

So, Jesus is like, forget the whole waiting in line thing. Just get up!!!!

The day on which this took place was a Sabbath, and so the Jewish leaders said to the man who had been healed, “It is the Sabbath; the law forbids you to carry your mat.”

Then, the Pharisees come along (the guys who make up all the rules or make a big deal of them more than anything else, including loving God) and state their rule "879"; "Do not carry your mat today."

But he replied, “The man who made me well said to me, ‘Pick up your mat and walk.’

I kinda feel sorry for the guy here, he's kinda stuck in a pickle.

Jesus tells him to pick up his mat, but the Pharisees say no way (rhyming accidentally, oh the joy.)

So they asked him, “Who is this fellow who told you to pick it up and walk?”
The man who was healed had no idea who it was, for Jesus had slipped away into the crowd that was there.
Later Jesus found him at the temple and said to him, “See, you are well again. Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you.”

The man went away and told the Jewish leaders that it was Jesus who had made him well.
So Jesus comes back all kind of spy lingo type thing, and said to the guy, to stop sinning.

Okay hold up! stop sinning?

What does that have to do with anything?

What Jesus is saying here is that if you keep sinning, bad things tend to happen.

The healing was to show the man to follow God, but then Jesus followed up to make sure the man would not continue going on doing the same stuff he did before. Make sense?

If not, comment below to say why and I will reply as quickly as possible.

Okay, That went okay, Time for part two.

This time, I will break up the passage with the same comments then explain again afterwards.

So, because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, the Jewish leaders began to persecute him.
The Pharisees were kind of mad (okay, steaming red hot in your face screaming mad) because Jesus broke their Sabbath rules.

I keep using the word rules over and over again, so I am going to clarify that changing rules is only for parents and people who are the ruler of the entire everythingness. Good? Good.

They were pretty angry.

In his defense Jesus said to them,

“My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.” For this reason they tried all the more to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.

Since the Pharisees continue with their bad attitude, Jesus tells them that he is always working since his father is always working.

Always working must get tiring.

Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.

So Jesus can only do stuff he sees God do since whatever God does Jesus does too.

For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, and he will show him even greater works than these, so that you will be amazed.

So God shows Jesus everything he does.

For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it.

So Jesus is saying he raises the dead like God does.

Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him.
So Jesus is the one who judges us so everyone will honor him in the same way we honor God. If you don't honor Jesus, you're not honoring God.

“Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.

So we have to hear Jesus and believe God (the one who sent Jesus). Then, we will be accepted Fully accepted to get eternal life in heaven.....that's good news!

Very truly I tell you, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live.

For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself. And he has given him authority to judge because he is the Son of Man.

So Jesus is God, God gives authority to Jesus and Jesus judges us.

Jesus was basically telling the Pharisees he was Lord over the Sabbath just like he is lord over everything. So what did you think? Leave your rating in the comment section below. Peaches or Pecans?

Day 15 - What Kind of DIRT Are You? - 30 DAYS BIBLE CHALLENGE - Luke 8:1-39

Did you enjoy your GRACE day on Day 14???

Well we are up an running for this 3rd week of our 30 Days with Jesus Bible Challenge.

Today's Bible Challenge Reading for Luke 8: 1-39 - What Kind of DIRT Are YOU???

When you have read... let us know or share anything you learned...please use the comment section below!

In Today's reading there are several nuggets to help us get a little CLOSER to Jesus...that's the goal right??? First of all:

WHAT kind of DIRT are you?????

In one of these lessons JESUS teaches about fertile soil...HE is talking about is talking about OUR HEARTS. JESUS mentions different kinds of hearts...

HIS top choice?

If our hearts are uncluttered and open to God it is called FERTILE:

A farmer went out to plant his seed. As he scattered it across his field

Still other seed fell on fertile soil.

This seed grew and produced a crop that was a hundred times as much as had been planted!”

When he had said this, he called out, “Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand"

What is the point??? you have ears???? Then you qualify=)

If so..........Jesus says this is a lesson to help you =)

Jesus is saying that is we have hearts open and available to God...we will accomplish alot in THIS LIFE. We will do ALOT for God and His agenda! Cool.

Perhaps more to the point is the part of our reading today where it says in verses 16-18

“No one lights a lamp and then covers it with a bowl or hides it under a bed. A lamp is placed on a stand, where its light can be seen by all who enter the house.

For all that is secret will eventually be brought into the open, and everything that is concealed will be brought to light and made known to all.

“So pay attention to how you hear.

To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given.

But for those who are not listening, even what they think they understand will be taken away from them.”

You can let the light of Jesus that is in you shine many ways=)

*Being kind to someone...

*Being excessively generous with someone

*Forgiving someone you are mad at even if they DON'T deserve it...

*Open a door for someone...

*Ask someone how they are doing?

*Compliment someone kindly...

*Give someone a hug...

*Answer kindly with a soft answer to someone who is a little rude to you...

*Pray for someone...

*Encourage someone...

*Speak ONLY the TRUTH...even if it hurts

I challenge you to do this and watch the SHOCK on people's face! It can be addicitive to be super kind to others.

JESUS can stop YOUR STORMS too!

Finally perhaps the BEST part of today's reading is this...

JESUS went on a trip with His peeps and storm started to wreck their trip. The were in a BOAT. Storms and boats don't mix well.

Now Jesus was so worried (NOT) that He took a nap!

One day Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.” So they got into a boat and started out.

As they sailed across, Jesus settled down for a nap. But soon a fierce storm came down on the lake. The boat was filling with water, and they were in real danger.

The disciples went and woke him up, shouting, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!”

When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and the raging waves.

Suddenly the storm stopped and all was calm.

Then he asked them, “Where is your faith?”
The disciples were terrified and amazed. “Who is this man?” they asked each other. “When he gives a command, even the wind and waves obey him!”

Please, please, please remember....God wants to do something great in your life!

TELL GOD about THE STORMS in your life so He can HELP!! If you like legos, here some people put alot of time into recreating the story

For the OLDER crowd...this nice song video has the same graphic warning as DAY 1. Jesus' life was rough at the end. A few of His last days are depicted here:

Day 13 - 30 Days With Jesus - Lose Something To GET Something?? Matt. 16: 24-28 and 17: 1-23

Today's reading is Matt. 16: 24-28 and 17: 1-23 - Lose Something To GET Something??

TODAY - When you  read...remember to PRAY as you read! Pray for understanding...pray for God. the creator of the whole planet.... to communicate WITH YOU!

You can let us know or share anything you learned...please click on the COMMENT section below! Click on the little BLUE "comments" word  next to the time that's at the bottom of this post to say something=)

We Love Jesus and Bagels!!!!

In Matthew 16: 24-28 it states something that may seem tricky at first...

Whoever want to SAVE his life will LOSE it....

What does THAT mean?

LOSE it to SAVE it????

in other words. If you live FOR Christ and try to follow His ways and goals for you....

You will find that you will be more fulfilled int he end. You will be surprised at the way God will help you and lead you personally IF you simply submit.

You tell (pray) God on a regular basis...

"LORD, I love you very much and I want to live for YOU.... "
Then ask Him questions like "But HOW?"

"WHAT do you want me to do?"

"How am I supposed to hear from you Lord??" (we @ ChristianChildren can help you learn to hear from God...just ask=)

THEN hold on for the RIDE! Life with Christ leading you can be quite a there is a great reward program better that frequent flier miles.

Now, that may mean God will have you give up things you KNOW are wrong...the things that bother your conscious. That prickly conscience is a GOOD SIGN FROM GOD to help you know that you need to change...see.... you already hear from God.

On the other hand, you will also find that God will give you FAVOR with other people, things may seem to work out alot for you and other weird things. You probably will even begin to like yourself more???

Once many people learn how crazy God is about them plus learn how HE made them ultra special and unique for a SPECIAL PURPOSE.....

THEN they start to feel and think differently. Days seem brighter, days take on more meaning even on bad days.

Remember, GOD is NOT LIMITED by our inadequacies, faults and flaws. WHY? Because GOD is not limited AT ALL and can use and communicate with EVEN YOU!

Here is a funny clip from the Skit Guys called God's Chisel that really helps this point...

Optional Exercise

After reading "The Transfiguration" in the first part of Matthew 17

Especially the part where it says:

Jesus shone like the sun and His clothes became white as light....

can you imagine that scene?

what would it look like to be there?

Let us know how it goes=)

Don't forget to read  Matt. 16: 24-28 and 17: 1-23
