7 Ideas to Help your Children Keep the Focus this Christmas

1. Read and re-read several Christmas stories to your children. Ideally, you find books that focus on the Birth of Jesus. Christmas videos are ok too, if you sit with them to explain the differences between the video and the true account.

2. Create a Present for Jesus = Young and older children love to create things that represent their heart. Kids can draw or find something that symbolizes how they feel toward God or what they are thankful for. Its easy. Everyone can place these items in a beautifully wrapped box or a gift bag if time is short.

3. Explain Gifts = Help your children know why we exchange gifts at Christmas. Jesus was the TRUE gift given to us. Tie these concepts together for your children. Some people mention the 3 gifts presented to Him.

4. Have a Treasure Hunt = Find several items that represent elements of the Christmas Story. Hide them around the house for the kids to look for, and explain. Most effective before present-time of items you purchased.

5. Sing, play and listen to Christmas Carols. Emphasize those that focus on Wonderful Jesus.

6. Bake a cookie or cake for Jesus. Crosses, hearts or whatever. Put on a special plate. Additionally, you can add a candle on Christmas and sing “Happy Birthday to Jesus”.

7. On Christmas Eve and Day read together the Christmas Story from the Bible and have the children act out the Christmas story as you read. You will have to piece together the full story from several chapters. (Luke 2 & Matthew 2) This can be great fun.

Children and the Supernatural

hearing God edit

This guest post from Pastor Mary Ann Kotch is just a sample of the resources their ministry has for parents and children. Online classes are available to help kids and their families grow in the Lord. Please see their contact info below:

I want to spend some time of explanation and encouragement concerning the abilities of children and the importance of developing an open and free attitude about this subject in their lives.

In biblical writings we read that our Creator gives spiritual gifts and abilities to mankind. We understand this is not limited to one gender but rather is for both male and female, children included. God’s presence and enlightenment is poured out on all no matter what gender or age.

As a child did you ever have a supernatural experience, dream or vision, and felt there was no one you could share it with or were told it’s just your imagination. That ill-time response could have limited or placed a roadblock in developing a creative spiritual gift in your life. Think about it. We need to seriously change our attitude concerning what children hear or see or experience in dreams and visions.

It’s vitally important to encourage our children by not minimizing or disregarding their spiritual experiences. To a child a dream or vision experience is important. We must train the child by listening to them and talking about what they feel and what they sense. One simple and necessary way to teach is to have them first write down the experience. Whether it’s in the form of a dream, something they see, or something they hear, then discuss the experience. If the child is too young to write, you, as a parent, could do it for them. This will impress on them the importance of what they’ve experienced. They will begin to learn and realize even at a young age they have a special ability from God. As a parent the development of this gift in your child should become a priority. The result of your affirmation will begin to instill in the child’s mind a healthy respect for spiritual sifts. Their desire for more will grow.

Some fun ways to help develop the important skill of distinguishing God’s voice from their own thoughts is for you to choose a number from one to ten. Then ask the child to ask the Holy Spirit for the answer. You can do the same things with colors, fruits, vegetables animals or kids names. Older children may have fun learning to hear God by watching game shows and prompting them to ask the Holy Spirit for the answer before the answer is given.

I would encourage you to seek input and enlightenment from a spiritual community that follows the ancient Hebraic methods of instruction, skill and interpretation. As parents we sometimes make the mistake of ignoring what we think is the child’s imagination. A simple prayer asking God to sanctify their imagination is truly beneficial a d will help you to see the imagination as a natural got from a loving God.

Leadership Book Review: “Always Enough” by Heidi and Rolland Baker

I absolutely love this book. It is an easy read and is lively enough to hold the attention of tweens, teens and youth. There is tons of action as missionaries Heidi and Rolland Baker partner with God to save the lost and poor in Mozambique, Africa. There are many leadership principles that can be gleaned from this book. It can be used as a read aloud if you stretch it out. It is written in segments, so it it lends itself to that use.

I pulled out a few servant leadership principles I learned from the book below. If you need more, simply let us know by messaging us on Facebook:

Feel free to “Like” us to if you choose=)

Leadership Principles from “There is Always Enough”

In the book, "There is Always Enough" by Heidi Baker, there are several leadership principles. They did not quit when they could have and hoped in their cause to partner with God to feed the poor instead. They believed they had something worth fighting for. They had no idea that God intended to explosively expand their efforts and start Iris Ministries that is a model for many missions and touches many parts of the world now.

Leadership Principle #1 -“Stop for the One”

In this book, it states that God used James 2:16 to inspire the author, Heidi and her husband to move to the poorest country of the world, Mozambique in Africa. They were to feed the poor. Their motto became to "Stop for the One" and meet their needs. This saying has impacted my life for many years. No matter what we do to help, mentor, teach, advise, love One person, it is a wonderful thing!

There are many surprises to their call to missions in the book=) Great reading….

Leadership Principle #2 - Stand Up For What You Believe In

Initially, when the Bakers had about a hundred orphan children they found in trash dumps and other locations, the corrupt government issued orders for them to stop praying, singing and helping the poor immediately. Their dedication to God and His plan was obviously not something they would stop, so the children defied the orders. When a contract was put on Heidi Baker's life they had to flee their new orphanage facilities . At this point, they could have given up. When the children walked 15 miles barefoot to stay with them, they cared for them in their home despite the fact that there was initially not enough food, even for their daughter who was crying for food. They persevered and cried out to God. He sent what they needed.

Leadership Principle #3 – Facing Fear and Stress = Trust

On another occasion, Heidi was in the garbage dump where their team often visited to have Sunday services, bring medical help and find children. Some youth threatened to kill them . Because Heidi had been instructed and encouraged by God in advance, she did not back down in fear but made it clear to him that Jesus cared for them and was gathering them to Himself. The youth not only stopped trying to injure them, but some started weeping, joined the orphanage, trained at Iris Ministries and started protecting her team.

Years later in 2001, Heidi and her husband was trying to get food to a region of Mozambique that was cut off due to rains and flooding. A deadly cholera epidemic broke out. The ministry set up a quarantined large hospital "tent" where many died. The city officials blamed Iris for introducing the disease by bringing in contaminated food for a wedding.

They were set on shutting down the center and the entire ministry.

In the meantime, Heidi visited the hospital tent daily for hours to pray for the kids and pastors with no concern for herself. Many thought she would die with the others. The situation became stressful and desperate. Heidi and Rolland would have to quit if God did not do something. They remembered the first time they were evicted in 1997 and could not take that again. God did, they withstood the crisis in faith and the people eventually became well. The same officials were astonished.

Today Iris Ministries touches many nations. There are other resources available from their ministry

Is Halloween BAD for Christians?

bms021333 This week, I am actually reposting a version of an article I wrote last year…

It amazes me how interested kids are in spiritual darkness these days=0 They are curious about things…

I had some of my tween friends ask me, “IS HALLOWEEN BAD?”

We briefly discussed the history of Halloween and I attempted to explain  why it is so popular now AND how it is indeed a holiday on a different level for many….

Below you will find my excerpt from last year:

Today I read a blog post concerning a topic I have been brewing on…. Halloween….funny part is I was JUST sitting down to write/ pray about it….I have a lot of kids in my life from lots of genres and I need a way to teach…but NOT condemn….

Excerpt From Family Matters Blog

“As we round the corner to Halloween, one of the most widely celebrated holidays in the United States, many Christian parents are unsure what they should allow their kids to do. By many, this holiday is seen as a chance to have some good old fashion fun dressing up and getting way too many treats. But for others, this holiday represents a dark side of life that intimidates them.”

Halloween = The Great Divide among Christians

Halloween is one of THOSE TOPICS…………..

I have know God fearing, God loving Christians on BOTH sides of the fence….especially in groups where a final decision had to made about what holidays to celebrate. More times than not the groups I was involved in chose to skip Halloween and either do a Huge Harvest Fest instead….to keep it fun for the kids or do a Halleluiah Nite or Brunch….or nothing at all.

The Soberness of Halloween for Believers = Prayer

mother-daughter-praying The soberness of the situation came recently a few days ago when 2 different believers reminded me to PRAY during this season of “increased spiritual activity”. PRAY, PRAY, PRAY… I was told….

This encouragement was just based on discernment of the times….I learned alot in the past about Halloween but I need some Facts on Halloween and its History AND what should I say to the kiddos….to TEACH the CHILDREN about Halloween ALL the facts and NOT CONDEMN them at the same time if we all have DIFFERENT VIEWS….

Halloween Information = A Christian Perspective

The first excerpt is from a website that digged into the history roots of Halloween…for the full article please visit the website….as a caution…it IS an Anti-Satanism site and that is where they are coming from…

The cool thing is that the site also reviews the origins of minor items like the jack-o-lanterns, black cats, brooms, skulls and some of the other familiar icons from Halloween tradition:

Where did Halloween begin?

It began over 2000 yrs. ago with people known as the Celtics. They lived in what is today England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. This was also the beginning of the Celtic new year, a time to give thanks to the sun god for the harvest.

What is Halloween all about? Trick-or-treating?

Halloween, All saints day, All hallows eve or All souls day is a festival. It was held to honor the Samhain the so called "lord of death". It was a Druidical belief that on the eve of this festival Samhain, lord of death, called together the wicked spirits that within the past 12 months had been condemned to inhabit the bodies of animals.

It was a pagan belief that on one night of the year the souls of the dead return to their original homes, there to be entertained with food. If food and shelter were not provided, these evil spirits would cast spells and cause havoc toward those failing to fulfill their requests.

Sacrifices were offered on this night to the dead spirits because it was thought they visited their earthly dwellings and former friends.

There was a prevailing belief among all nations that at death the souls of the good men were taken possession of by good spirits and carried to paradise; but the souls of the wicked men were left to wonder in the space between the earth and the moon, or consigned to the unseen world. These wandering spirits were in the habit of haunting the living...But there were means by which ghosts might be exorcised.

To exorcise these ghosts, that is to free yourself from their evil sway, you would have to set out food and provide shelter for them during the night. If they were satisfied with your offerings, they would leave you in peace. If not, they were believed to cast an evil spell on you….

In modern day Satanism and Witchcraft covens, this is the day when Satan himself comes to "fellowship" with his followers. Many changes have occurred over the centuries, but one thing ha stayed the same, the practice of giving an "offering" has stayed the same.

Jeremiah Project says: …When America and the world celebrates the Festival of Samhain and the powers of darkness by masquerading as evil creatures or decorating our homes, schools, businesses and churches with occult symbols, Satanic power is glorified.

Halloween & Christianity Link History from

During the 8th century in the diocese of Rome, Pope Gregory III moved All Saints Day to November 1, officially making October 31 "All Hallows Eve," some say, as a way of claiming the celebration for Christians…. Pope Gregory IV broadened the feast to include the entire Church.

Inevitably, some of the pagan practices associated with the season persisted and have been mixed into modern celebrations of Halloween.

They also include this excerpt which I thought was interesting:

Ephesians 5:7-12

Don't participate in the things these people do. For though your hearts were once full of darkness, now you are full of light from the Lord, and your behavior should show it! For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true.

Try to find out what is pleasing to the Lord. Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, rebuke and expose them. It is shameful even to talk about the things that ungodly people do in secret.

What Should I Say and Teach as a Christian About Halloween? 3 Approaches

Well, first of all I LIKE Missionaries Rob and Millie’s Approach…to evangelize in season…..that is one approach of many Christians

….My son says…”I like Rob and Millie…because they tell other people about Jesus….G-O-D”

Evangelizing for Halloween  probably the BEST way of approaching Halloween……. Presidents’ Day…Grandparents Day……… or ANY HOLIDAY for that matter!!!!!!!!!!!

In years past we have taken this approach to Halloween. We used to give out pencils and other trinkets from Oriental Trading with a message…

Ignoring, denying and/or or being against Halloween is another Christian Perspective:

Many Christians strongly oppose Halloween and don’t even mention it as a day of significance. The danger of this of course is that it is a very real holiday for not just stores who start the Halloween season  late summer…but for many Christians and non Christians who celebrate in offices, schools, churches, and the like. To pretend Halloween did not exist would be a challenge for kids…..We teach the kids about the History of Halloween…and how it is being celebrated today…

It is also important to help the kids NOT BE JUDGMENTAL against Christians who celebrate….this is not a salvation issue. It is a RELATIONSHIP with God issue….it is God who communicates…so I will NOT tell the kids outside of my home NOT to celebrate BUT I will try to teach them about the TRUTHS of Halloween. It is up to them to decide.

As a family, we have left home some Halloweens to avoid the door scene when our oldest crop of kids were still little…..especially at the times when their harvest party was scheduled on a different day….we didn’t want them to feel confused or BAD about not trick-or-treating… They had TONS of candy already…so we’d go to the mall…(still getting candy – can’t avoid it, ha ha) or to an event our church had planned at the Play Plaza or just go hang out somewhere……

A Final Christian Approach to Halloween: Some Christians Celebrate Halloween

I have heard of some who try to take the darkest parts OUT for their kids sake….like my fellow blogger who says:

“Then there is a middle ground approach that includes the fun but excludes the dark influences.”

I have many God fearing family members who go to Halloween parties and such.

As a kid I was allowed to dress up and go on my city block to trick-or-treat…  82600962

I must admit is was a SCARY CAT  cat at times because of the PROJECTILE EGGS COMING DOWN from the roofs of the 4 story apt buildings. LOL

Kids would sneak on the rooftops and bombard passer-bys. Those EGGS HURT if they hit you… SOME kids would use umbrellas as they trick-or-treated.

One author I read felt

…Vandalism and wanton disregard for the property of others is common on Halloween night.

Even normally well-behaved children are driven by unseen forces to destructive behavior. Police officials everywhere report a great increase in such activities on Halloween

.… it can get very destructive..

In fact at some schools’ administration have instituted a curfew to cut down on the mischief…

As a college student we kids actually called Halloween MISCHIEF NIGHT….

The administration had to implement this policy after my freshman year when some kids damaged light fixtures and other expensive items to repair…My immediate friends and I were surprised considering we had powder filled sock fights BUT that became the new policy. Some students had gone too far…

the author’s thoughts I just mentioned about destructive behavior on Halloween make me wonder as I reflect…..

Finally, some parents ONLY let their kids do a limited amount of involvement with the Halloween Holiday…only visiting family or close neighbors…etc.

The Conclusion of the Matter on Halloween from a Christian Perspective

I believe God’s heart is for us to seek HIS FACE…about everything.

God is fully capable of touching a speaking to US on a regular basis.

Out of that INTIMACY with the Father God we will each receive direction concerning Halloween so we can in turn teach the children in our paths.

Following tradition blindly either way….to celebrate or not….to me is the biggest mistake that can be made by any …

GOD CARES ABOUT the details in our lives…and has an encouragement and direction to speak to individuals….

Co-Parenting With God

I wanted to say a few words about an exciting opportunity I had to speak in an interview with Antiqua Libby as part of her weekly HUGS (Hearts Uniting God’s Spirit) series. The interview process itself was totally led by God. In fact, He took the show to an angle we had not quite planned….which is even better. He had a blast. She is a wonderful hostess!

Parenting and Training the Children in Our Lives

The interview stresses techniques and tips to communicate with God to parent and train the children in our lives. These children may be our students, friends, birth children, step-children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, neighbors….

I believe, God wanted His us to know how much He can help us and partner with us to raise our families and the children and youth of today.

So many children are hurting these days. They need love and care. Some have special needs. It takes a lot and God has the resources. In fact, He has a plan.

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Through the Tough Times

Even during the tough times God’s hand is available to help, guide, instruct, tutor, strategize and comfort.

Sometimes I meet children and situations that feel over my head. The pain is deep and cutting. Many tears I have shed over the years but He always makes His presence known. I like to ask Him for wisdom and comfort during these times….sometimes it feels more like a beg=) I know I just have to ask.

God promises to teach our children:

All your children shall be taught by the LORD, and great shall be the peace of your children.

He desires us to partner with Him. There is so much success available…

He speaks to us as parents……….if we ask Him.

Help for You

If it is difficult for you as a parent to hear God and feel connected please let me know. You may want encouragement, support, prayer a few pointers to resources available….just ask!

15 Success Tips for Everyday Life from Nehemiah – Great Lesson for Teens

Many times God gives us an assignment….

Depending on our perspective….

Some call it an issue…

Some call it a challenge….

Some call it an opportunity…

Some may even call it a PROBLEM.

Whatever it is, we know that God has highlighted the situation and it needs attention…NOW…

Yes, God puts it before us. But naturally we grow weary, frustrated, scared. Just like many of the heroes of faith in the Bible.

But…. we also know we can refuel with the KING. IF we ask, He promises to NEVER leave us nor forsake us. He is our “A present help in time of need”. (Ps 46:1)

Nehemiah’s Life to Teach Teens

joe christian vs cross bearer 4-12

I love to extract wisdom from the bible to apply it to everyday life. This is especially helpful when teaching teens….who LOVE WISDOM=)

The Bible serves as a compass when trying to navigate through a challenge or task God is helping us through. Nehemiah had an amazing insightful time with the Lord when rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem.

Nehemiah’s Opportunity

Here are a few tips to help us glean wisdom from Nehemiah’s difficult but successful journey

(Verses from New Living translation on (

1. (Neh. 1:2-4 New Living Translation) See the issue, challenge, opportunity

2 Hanani, one of my brothers, came to visit me with some other men who had just arrived from Judah. I asked them about the Jews who had returned there from captivity and about how things were going in Jerusalem.

3 They said to me, “Things are not going well for those who returned to the province of Judah. They are in great trouble and disgrace. The wall of Jerusalem has been torn down, and the gates have been destroyed by fire.”

4 When I heard this, I sat down and wept. In fact, for days I mourned, fasted, and prayed to the God of heaven.

2. (Neh. 1:11) Strategize: Pray and Make a Plan With God

11 O Lord, please hear my prayer! Listen to the prayers of those of us who delight in honoring you. Please grant me success today by making the king favorable to me.[b] Put it into his heart to be kind to me.”

In those days I was the king’s cup-bearer.

3. (Neh. 2:11-14) Use wisdom to avoid unnecessary resistance

11 So I arrived in Jerusalem. Three days later, 12 I slipped out during the night, taking only a few others with me. I had not told anyone about the plans God had put in my heart for Jerusalem. We took no pack animals with us except the donkey I was riding. 13 After dark I went out through the Valley Gate, past the Jackal’s Well,[f] and over to the Dung Gate to inspect the broken walls and burned gates.

4. (Neh. 2:14-15) Assess the situation

14 Then I went to the Fountain Gate and to the King’s Pool, but my donkey couldn’t get through the rubble. 15 So, though it was still dark, I went up the Kidron Valley[g] instead, inspecting the wall before I turned back and entered again at the Valley Gate.

5. (Neh. 2:20) When encountering those who are offering free discouragement - Cling to God’s Promises

20 I replied, “The God of heaven will help us succeed. We, his servants, will start rebuilding this wall. But you have no share, legal right, or historic claim in Jerusalem.”

Overcoming the Enemy’s Tactics

6. (Neh. 4:1-3) Sometimes when pursing God’s plan we may also hear the enemy’s thoughts that may SEEM true to distract us. They are really because we are on the right path.

Sanballat was very angry when he learned that we were rebuilding the wall. He flew into a rage and mocked the Jews, 2 saying in front of his friends and the Samarian army officers, “What does this bunch of poor, feeble Jews think they’re doing? Do they think they can build the wall in a single day by just offering a few sacrifices?[p] Do they actually think they can make something of stones from a rubbish heap—and charred ones at that?”

3 Tobiah the Ammonite, who was standing beside him, remarked, “That stone wall would collapse if even a fox walked along the top of it!”

7. (Neh. 4:4) Our response to the enemy’s thoughts = Prayer

4 Then I prayed, “Hear us, our God, for we are being mocked. May their scoffing fall back on their own heads, and may they themselves become captives in a foreign land!

8. (Neh. 4:8-9) When we get closer to success and the opposition increases and tries to bring confusion and/or discord = Prayer + Action

Faith is an action word…. See James 2:17-24

8 They all made plans to come and fight against Jerusalem and throw us into confusion. 9 But we prayed to our God and guarded the city day and night to protect ourselves.

9. (Neh. 4:10) Realize when a particular course of action is not working effectively.

10 Then the people of Judah began to complain, “The workers are getting tired, and there is so much rubble to be moved. We will never be able to build the wall by ourselves.”

11 Meanwhile, our enemies were saying, “Before they know what’s happening, we will swoop down on them and kill them and end their work.”

12 The Jews who lived near the enemy came and told us again and again, “They will come from all directions and attack us!”[s]

10. (Neh. 4:13) Based on gained knowledge. Adjust success strategy.

13 So I placed armed guards behind the lowest parts of the wall in the exposed areas. I stationed the people to stand guard by families, armed with swords, spears, and bows.

11. (Neh. 4:14) Remember your mighty God

14 Then as I looked over the situation, I called together the nobles and the rest of the people and said to them, “Don’t be afraid of the enemy! Remember the Lord, who is great and glorious, and fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your homes!”

We Are Just Like the Heroes in the Bible

Here is the dividing line between those of us who say we are “Christians” and those  Christians who will “Carry their Cross”.

I will be honest; sometimes I don’t FEEL like carrying the cross.

We ALL feel like bailing out at times when things get REALLY TOUGH and seem like they will never resolve. We may cry, scream, act up, get upset with God and/or those around us…whatever.

Let’s see…. in the Bible it says:

Peter LIED 3 times save himself by denying knowing Jesus who was actually his best friend,

Elijah RAN from Jezebel after just finishing defeating 300 prophets of a false God,

Before becoming who God wanted them to be….Sarai and Abram SCHEMED to create an heir for Abram. It seemed logical since she was barren. Sarai gave her husband Hagar her servant to be his wife.

She wanted to create who she thought would be an heir.

God’s response was to promise a better plan that seemed impossible…open Sarai’s womb. No condemnation…just a better plan. They realized Ishmael was NOT God’s promised Isaac. (Gen. 16 & 21:1-20)

So, when we grow weary we are in good company…its ok.

We can run to God for help to move past our emotions to move toward SUCCESS in the task He has for us to complete.

“The God of heaven will help us succeed”

God’s GRACE is here for us….GRACE, GRACE, GRACE

I believe He loves to carry us to the finish line of success.

Through the Trials - Nehemiah's Final Stretch to Success

12. (Neh. 4:15-18) God gives us NEW strategies to work around obstacles that try to get in our way.

15 When our enemies heard that we knew of their plans and that God had frustrated them, we all returned to our work on the wall. 16 But from then on, only half my men worked while the other half stood guard with spears, shields, bows, and coats of mail. The leaders stationed themselves behind the people of Judah 17 who were building the wall. The laborers carried on their work with one hand supporting their load and one hand holding a weapon. 18 All the builders had a sword belted to their side. The trumpeter stayed with me to sound the alarm.

13. (Neh. 4:21-23) Another answer to great opposition to reach success: Work really hard. OUCH!

21 We worked early and late, from sunrise to sunset. And half the men were always on guard. 22 I also told everyone living outside the walls to stay in Jerusalem. That way they and their servants could help with guard duty at night and work during the day. 23 During this time, none of us—not I, nor my relatives, nor my servants, nor the guards who were with me—ever took off our clothes. We carried our weapons with us at all times, even when we went for water.[f]

14. (Neh. 6: 2-11) God gives us revelation and discernment when we need. God exposes the enemy’s strategy. Pray for strength and boldness.

But I realized they were plotting to harm me, 3 so I replied by sending this message to them: “I am engaged in a great work, so I can’t come. Why should I stop working to come and meet with you?”

4 Four times they sent the same message, and each time I gave the same reply. 5 The fifth time, Sanballat’s servant came with an open letter in his hand, 6 and this is what it said:

“There is a rumor among the surrounding nations, and Geshem[b] tells me it is true, that you and the Jews are planning to rebel and that is why you are building the wall. According to his reports, you plan to be their king. 7 He also reports that you have appointed prophets in Jerusalem to proclaim about you, ‘Look! There is a king in Judah!’

“You can be very sure that this report will get back to the king, so I suggest that you come and talk it over with me.”

8 I replied, “There is no truth in any part of your story. You are making up the whole thing.”

9 They were just trying to intimidate us, imagining that they could discourage us and stop the work. So I continued the work with even greater determination.[c]

10 Later I went to visit Shemaiah son of Delaiah and grandson of Mehetabel, who was confined to his home. He said, “Let us meet together inside the Temple of God and bolt the doors shut. Your enemies are coming to kill you tonight.”

11 But I replied, “Should someone in my position run from danger? Should someone in my position enter the Temple to save his life? No, I won’t do it!”

Rocks to Success

15. (Neh. 6:15-16) Success (enemies frustrated and humiliated)

15 So on October 2[d] the wall was finished—just fifty-two days after we had begun. 16 When our enemies and the surrounding nations heard about it, they were frightened and humiliated. They realized this work had been done with the help of our God.

“Open my eyes Lord to see…”

Reprint- December 16, 2007

by 12yo Britt.

open my eyes

I did not plan to type what I did, but I guess God just downloaded it to me. It sorta’ sounds like Sunday school but whatev’……its what I got so enjoy.

“Open my eyes Lord to see the Beautiful Connection Between God, Us and the Cross”

The Lord helped me to see things that I would have never seen before. Like angels and demons and other glorious things. He gives us sympathy pains and visions like pictures in your head. He also speaks to me in my sleep and when I’m awake.

He is an awesome God who has all the power, glory and authority to do what ever He pleases and we mustn’t try to mess with God. He is all powerful and our ruler if you want to have Him as your personal savior….. Just ask Him into your Heart to rule and reign till the day Jesus comes back and worship Him forever. Just think…getting to be next to the One who made everything, for instance you. That will be so much fun. I can’t wait and I hope you can’t either. It will be an awesome day when Jesus returns in the clouds………

He will be there with the Book of Life and if you prayed for forgiveness of your sins and accepted Him to rule and reign in your heart forever, then you will be in that book too. You will get to be in peace and joy with Him for eternity. Exciting isn’t it?

To think, He is watching you right now, smiling down at you being pleased. Sadly, He also sees us and watches us when we do bad things, or don’t do the right thing- THAT thing you know you SHOULD have done, we grieve Him at the sight of it. Would you like to be responsible for grieving (making Him sad) the living God, the creator of heaven and earth, the One who gave you life? Not I….

He LOVES you sooooo much and wants to be friends with you and enjoys it when you chat with Him. He is so happy when you do what He asks. That includes praying ( talking with God) for those who need prayer ( like say, your friend was sick, then you would ask God to heal her/him) and other things like reading your bible. (His instructions on how to live a happy, holy life) Back in bible days like in the Old Testament ordinary people had a hard time hangin’ with God. That’s why He sent his son to die on the cross for us to save us from our sins; to build a bridge, a connection with God that we could never have had before. God is perfect and holy. Jesus’ blood covered us we so we can talk directly with God; which is SO much fun.

Isn’t it amazing how God worked everything out in his wonderful huge plan for mankind…for all of us to love Him…and for Him to love us back. That is the beautiful connection & plan that God made.

Hi this is another reprint from our old blog=)

We received this awesome news thru an awesome prophetic friend who received it from Kathie Walter’s email group & figured we had to share it! This is so encouraging…….God uses young people to raise the dead!

“This is one of the most incredible miracles I have ever read, and it was done through two teenagers! God is definitely on the move…more Lord!

Dear friends,

This is a testimony from a young lady in our church ( 14) , who was part of team used by God to raise a stillborn baby from the dead in Guatemala.  We know this young lady personally.  Her character and integrity are without reproach.  You are about to read a bonafide, contemporary Lazarus resurrection story.  This is as close to the flame of a literal resurrection from the dead as we have ever been!

BIG blessings,

Dave & Anita

My name is Abby. I am 14 years old. I live in western North Carolina. During the summer of 2008, I went on a ministry trip to Guatemala. During part of the trip, we divided up into small ministry teams (5 to 7 people) and visited different villages in the San Pedro La Laguna area. We traveled from village to village telling the Indian people about Jesus. On one particular day, we were visiting in the home of young woman. She lived in a small village of about 14 or 15 houses. We were trying to lead the young lady to Christ, but it was not going very well. After awhile, we decided to move on. Before leaving, we asked the woman if we could pray with her about anything in her life. She told us that just the day before, she had given birth to a stillborn baby and that we could pray with her about that. In Guatemalan culture there is great shame and condemnation on mothers who give birth to deformed or stillborn children.

We prayed a simple prayer that everything would go well with the funeral and burial of the baby and that the mother would be spared the shame and condemnation associated with having given birth to a stillborn child.

As we were praying this simple prayer, my friend and fellow ministry team member, Julia (age 17), told me that we needed to pray over the baby’s body.

I thought she was crazy to suggest this and that it was not a good idea. Julia was persistent. She said again that we really needed to pray over the baby’s body. She told me to ask the mother if she still had the baby’s body. When I asked, the mother told us the baby’s body was wrapped up in a burial cloth in the backroom. I asked her if we could pray over the body. The mother hesitantly said, yes. We went into the backroom and saw the baby’s body wrapped up in a bundle on the bed. Julia poked her head out of the back room and asked if she could unwrap the baby’s head. The mother said, yes, if we wrapped it back correctly when we were done. Julia picked up the body and unwrapped the head. The baby’s head was tiny and pale. The baby was stillborn and had been dead outside the womb for 27 hours. Her skin had turned shades of purple. Our entire ministry team, five of us, began crying and praying over this baby. We prayed for thirty to forty minutes.

At the end of that time, Julia screamed out to God, telling him that she believed with all of her heart that this baby could be raised from the dead. After Julia screamed out, everyone was silent. We were quietly interceding and praying. Within a few minutes, the baby started moving. Then the baby coughed and began crying. The mother came rushing into the room. She was screaming, what is going? No one could answer her. We were just staring at the baby, who had come back to life. The mother asked us again, what is going on? She began crying as she saw that her baby was alive. She ran out of the house and banged on every door in the village, telling all of the people that God is real because her baby was alive.  Within about thirty minutes, the baby’s skin tone and movements had become completely normal.

Five days later, we returned to the village to check in on the mother and the baby. The village had prepared a big dinner in honor of our team. We enjoyed a wonderful time of fellowship together. The baby, whom they named Julia, was perfectly healthy and had gained weight. Even after five days, the mother was still shaking from the impact of God on her life through the resurrection of her child. Two days after our follow-up visit, the mother brought baby Julia to church. The mother was still shaking from the power of God on her life following this astounding miracle.

The Unbelievable!

A PowerClub Kid Raises a Baby from the Dead!

OK. If this is a stretch for you to believe, I understand.

I had to blink hard a couple times myself when this report first came in from our KIMI Latin America director Ana Lilia Zertuche. It’s easy for me to believe kids can heal the sick. I’ve seen it done over and over again. It’s easy for me to accept them as profound prayer warriors. It happens in almost every one of our conferences. It’s easy for me to acknowledge kids giving prophetic words to people very accurately. I’ve heard them do it repeatedly reading people’s private mail and changing people’s lives. Though I’ve never seen it personally, I have heard a number of stories where children have cast out devils. I believe it.

And I also believe kids can raise the dead.

But in all my years of preaching this message I have only heard of one story where this actually happened. And it’s a 20 year old story told to me by a man in Africa. So when this story came in about one of our very own PowerClub kids, I wanted to get as many of the facts as possible and get it documented the best we could. Let me tell you the whole story as told to me by Ana Lilia.

About a year ago a man, Hugo, in Mexico City saw the movie Jesus Camp. (Isn’t that interesting????) He wrote to us here in the states and wanted to get involved with our ministry because of what he saw in the movie. So naturally we put him in contact with Ana Lilia since she lives in Mexico. Very shortly after this Hugo asked Ana Lilia to train him so he could begin a PowerClub in Mexico City.

He was so excited to begin. After training and receiving our KIMI curriculums in Spanish, he started with three kids, then eight, then twenty, and before long he had 100 children attending his PowerClub. He was desperate for a bigger meeting place.

A father of one of the children attending was so impressed with the changes that he saw in his own son, that he started attending the PowerClub himself. He was a disenfranchised Christian who had given up on church. But this ministry so impressed him, that he immediately began paying the rent on a facility for Hugo to hold his hundred kids. Hugo has now been teaching these children with our KIMI curriculums for a year.

Now fast forward to just within the last six weeks where our miracle story begins. Hugo’s twelve year old son Estaban had a sudden appendicitis attack and was rushed to the hospital for surgery. While he was there, the report went out through the patients in the hospital that a little baby had died. It was a preemie, and the doctors had worked on him for at least two hours before giving up, pulling all life support from him, and announcing to the parents that little Ezekial was officially dead.

When Estaban heard the story he immediately asked his mother if he could go and pray for the baby. He insisted on praying that the baby would be resurrected.

His mother tried to redirect him to pray for the parents who surely needed their prayers, but Estaban was insistent about praying that the baby would be resurrected. Finally his mother led Estaban, still hooked up to his own IV’s, down the hallway to the baby’s room, but of course the nurses would not allow them to go in. So undaunted, Estaban began to pray in the hallway, outside the door of the baby. Everyone around him heard his prayer for the baby to come back to life. Finally he was done and confidently declared to his mother, “The baby WILL be resurrected.” With that they went back to their own room.

It wasn’t but about a half an hour later, one of the nurses came running into their room with the news—the baby was indeed alive again!!!!Everyone, including the doctors declared it an absolute miracle!

Hugo and his family visited little Ezekial and his parents several times, and just in the last week or two they finally were allowed to take little Ezekial home. The parents are Catholic. Hugo, Claudia, and Estaban were invited to their home just recently and were able to take pictures of Estaban and the baby and his mother. The parents have since received Jesus as their savior and are still declaring along with the doctors that this is indeed a miracle! The doctors have no explanation for this!

This has even increased my faith of the potential of children as warriors for Christ. Of course I’m excited that this came out of one of our PowerClubs. Of course I’m excited that this child was first impacted by the movie Jesus Camp and was later trained using our materials. But as of right now, we don’t have a curriculum with any lessons teaching kids to raise the dead! This was a total God-thing! Somehow this child was impacted to be able to believe God for anything!

Every one of us as parents, pastors, and children’s ministers should be deeply inspired and challenged to believe for even bigger and more amazing things through the children we are privileged to teach after hearing this story. Think of the responsibility we have to inspire and mentor and encourage our kids to believe for the unbelievable.

Please continue to pray for little Ezekial since he is a preemie that he will grow up perfect with no physical limitations of any kind and pray for his parents that they will find a good church where they will be discipled and be able to grow strong in the Lord. We give God all the glory for it all! And continue to pray that the children of the world will step into their rightful places in God’s army.
